About CPS Test

A CPS test measures clicks per second — how many times you can click a mouse button inside a fixed window. Click in the box as fast as you can; the timer starts on your first click, and when it runs out your total clicks are divided by the seconds to give your CPS. It is the standard warm-up and bragging number for Minecraft PvP players, FPS players, and anyone who has ever wondered how fast their finger really is.

This click speed test runs free in your browser with six lengths: 1, 3, 5, 10, 30, and 60 seconds. Short tests measure raw burst speed; long ones show whether you can hold a rhythm once your forearm starts to burn. The 5-second test is the one people compare, so it is the one that counts toward the global leaderboard — but every length keeps its own personal best on your device, so you always have a number to beat.

Your result comes with a rank, from Sloth to Lightning, and a rough estimate of how it compares with typical results. Anything faster than 25 clicks per second is treated as beyond human range: it still shows, but it never reaches the records or the leaderboard.

How to Play CPS Test

  1. 1Pick a test length — 5 seconds is the standard most people compare.
  2. 2Click inside the box to start. The timer begins on your very first click, not before.
  3. 3Keep clicking as fast as you can until the time runs out.
  4. 4Your CPS is total clicks divided by the test length, shown with your rank and an estimate of how it compares.
  5. 5Hit Try again to beat it, or switch lengths to compare burst speed with endurance.

What's a good CPS?

CPS (5-second test)What it means
Under 4Relaxed, everyday clicking
4 – 6A typical casual result
6 – 8Above average — where most players land when they really try
8 – 10Fast; usually practice or a light, snappy mouse
10 – 13Jitter-clicking territory
13+Butterfly or drag clicking

Approximate ranges for normal mice. Shorter tests produce higher numbers and longer tests lower ones, so compare results of the same length.

Tips & Strategy

  • Let the click come from the finger, not the wrist or arm. Tension slows you down within a couple of seconds.
  • Jitter clicking — tensing the forearm so the finger vibrates on the button — can push past 10 CPS, but it is tiring. Build up to it, and stop if your wrist or hand hurts.
  • Butterfly clicking alternates two fingers on the same button and roughly doubles the inputs. It is how most 15+ CPS results are made.
  • Your mouse matters: a light switch with short travel is noticeably faster than a heavy one, and a touchpad is slower still.
  • Compare like with like. A 1-second burst will always beat your 60-second average.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a good CPS?
For a 5-second test, around 6 to 7 clicks per second is a solid typical result. 8 to 10 is fast, 10+ usually means a technique like jitter clicking, and sustained results above 13 almost always come from butterfly or drag clicking.
What is the average clicks per second?
Most people land somewhere between 5 and 8 CPS with normal clicking. The exact figure depends on the test length, the mouse, and how warmed up your hand is.
How is CPS calculated?
Total clicks divided by the test length in seconds. For example, 47 clicks in a 5-second test is 9.40 CPS.
What are jitter clicking and butterfly clicking?
Jitter clicking means tensing your arm so your finger vibrates rapidly on the button. Butterfly clicking means alternating two fingers on the same button. Both are common in Minecraft PvP and both can push you well past normal clicking speed.
Does an autoclicker count?
No. Results above 25 clicks per second are treated as beyond human range — they still show on screen, but they never count toward your records or the global leaderboard.
Is the CPS test free?
Yes. It runs in your browser with nothing to download and no account needed, and you can take it as many times as you like.
