About Breakout

Breakout is the brick-busting arcade classic: a paddle, a ball, and a wall of blocks standing between you and a clear screen. PLAYNESKO's neon take lights every brick up in colour and asks one thing of you — don't let the ball drop.

Behind the simple loop of bounce, smash, repeat is a surprisingly deep game of angles. Where the ball hits your paddle decides where it goes next, so a great Breakout run is really a series of small, deliberate aiming decisions made at speed.

How to Play Breakout

  1. 1Move the paddle with your mouse or the arrow keys to keep the ball in play.
  2. 2Bounce the ball up into the bricks — each brick you hit is destroyed and adds to your score.
  3. 3Clear every brick on the screen to win; let the ball fall past your paddle and you lose a life.
  4. 4Use the angle of your paddle to steer the ball toward the bricks you still need to break.

Tips & Strategy

  • Aim to tunnel the ball up one side so it ricochets along the top row and clears bricks on its own.
  • Hit the ball with the far edges of the paddle for steep angles, and the centre for straight returns.
  • Don't just react — position the paddle where the ball is going to be, not where it is.
  • Keep your eye on the ball, not the bricks; the bricks aren't going anywhere.
