About Minesweeper

Minesweeper is the classic logic puzzle that shipped with computers for decades. On PLAYNESKO you play it free in your browser: hidden across the grid are mines, and every safe cell you uncover shows a number — the count of mines touching it. Read those numbers carefully and you can deduce exactly where the mines are, flag them, and clear the rest of the field.

Your first click is always safe, so every game opens with a chunk of the board. From there it's pure deduction — most positions can be solved with logic alone. Clear every cell that isn't a mine to win, and the faster you do it, the higher your score.

How to Play Minesweeper

  1. 1Click any cell to start — your first click is always safe and opens an area.
  2. 2Each revealed number tells you how many mines touch that cell.
  3. 3Right-click (or turn on Flag mode) to plant a flag on a cell you think hides a mine.
  4. 4Use the numbers to deduce which cells are safe and reveal them; clear every non-mine cell to win.
  5. 5Hit a mine and the game ends — so flag carefully and only reveal what you're sure of.

Tips & Strategy

  • Start from the numbers at the edges of opened areas — they have the fewest unknowns.
  • A '1' touching exactly one hidden cell means that cell is a mine; flag it.
  • When a number already touches its full count of flags, its other neighbours are safe — click the number to clear them fast (chording).
  • When you're stuck, compare two overlapping numbers; the difference between them often pins down a mine.
