About Visual Memory Test

The visual memory test checks how many positions you can capture at a glance. A few tiles on the grid light up for about a second, then go dark — tap every tile that was lit. Clear the level and the next one has another tile, and the board itself grows from 3×3 up to 7×7, so patterns get bigger and sparser as you climb.

You have three lives. Three wrong taps in one level cost a life and replay that level with a fresh pattern. Your score is the number of levels you cleared — a measure of visual short-term memory, the 'snapshot' memory you use to remember where things were.

Tips & Strategy

  • Don't memorise tiles one at a time — see the shape they make together, like a constellation.
  • On big boards, split the grid into quarters and remember how many tiles each quarter had.
  • Tap the tiles you are sure of first. The order doesn't matter, so save the doubtful ones for last.
  • Each wrong tile only counts once, so if you are torn between two, commit and move on.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a good visual memory score?
Clearing around 8 to 10 levels is a typical result. Twelve or more is strong, and reaching the upper teens is exceptional.
What does the visual memory test measure?
Visual short-term memory — how many locations you can hold after a brief look. It is the memory you use to remember where you put something or what a scene looked like.
Does the order I tap the tiles in matter?
No. Tap the lit tiles in any order you like.
What happens when I tap a wrong tile?
It counts as a miss. Three misses in one level cost one of your three lives, and the level replays with a new pattern.
Is the visual memory test free?
Yes. No download and no sign-up — just open the page and start.
